Day 1 of the fast!

So...........Yesterday, Wednesday 5th February 2014 I decided to give this fruit juice fasting diet a whirl!
On Monday I saw a program on Channel 5 about Australian Joe Cross and his fasting and how much weight he lost. I was inspired!
Now I am currently 16 stone and 10 lbs which isn't the heaviest I have been in my life but at 5 ft 6 inches puts my BMI at 37.8 which officially puts me in the obese catagory.

So a bit about me.........My 40th birthday is coming up fast, this August. I have a 5 year old son, and have been married for two and a half years.
My other half is skinny....... next to me anyway, at 11 stone exactly.

In 2004 I had a discectomy and now my back has started hurting again but I won't go to the doctors about it as I know the first thing they will say is 'lose weight'.

I also get subaceuos cysts on my belly, in my groin and have even had some on my boobs before now.
I very rarely wear a proper bra anymore and really couldn't tell you my correct bra size.
I tend to wear these sports bra things and every now again I get this awful fungal infection underneath which smells disgusting!

So, now I reckon its about time to sort myself out! Get back to looking somewhere how I used to and of course all these health implications 'should' disappear once the weight comes down.

Luckily my brother in law has lent me a juicer, as I didn;t realise at first what the difference between a blender and a juicer was. I know your probably thinking 'what a bimbo' but hey! My culinary skills are very limited!

I researched a few websites on the net about fruit fasting and to me it sounds very easy....................but there is a major flaw in my plan................I HAVE MAJOR ISSUES ABOUT VEGETABLES!
I always have, its a proper phobia. The only veg I eat usually are potatoes and marrowfat processed peas. Garden peas wont do, and I suppose onions I like too. But that's about it! I reckon I can count on one hand how many times over 39 years I have tried to eat carrots. And Brocolli and cabbage has never passed these lips.
I always used to joke that although I'm this size I do eat salad.............on a big mac or kebabs!
So I'm not adverse to a bit of lettuce every now and again.

So Tuesday night, juicer all cleaned and ready to go, my husband came home from work sporting a bag of fresh fruit.
Oranges, Apples, Pears, cucumber and tomatoes.
He didn't know I don't like tomatoes!
But I got to work straight away juicing away preparing my 'food' ready for a fresh start on Wednesday morning.

My first experiement was the full bag of pears and full bag of apples, which produced 1 litre of juice.
I bottled it and put it in the fridge ready.
After a clean I then juiced the oranges. it looked so beautiful I found it hard to keep my lips off it, but I poured it in a jug and put it in the fridge.

Wednesday morning I woke up, went to the scales weighed myself and wrote down my weight on the calender.

This was it, the first day of the fast! Right lets get that orange juice out......................."URRRGGGGHH"
It was totally disgusting.............I had made a fatal error in my preparation of the oranges before juicing them............I hadn't peeled them before shoving them through the juicer.
Schoolboy error. Must remember this for next time.

During the day I consumed 1 litre of apple and pear juice and later on that day I juiced 2 pineapples and 2 mangoes and consumed that aswell.
I must admit, I wasn't starving and yet I wasn't full either.

I suppose the hardest part of the day was cooking tea for my son and my husband. The smell was gorgeous even though only eggs and chips, and I cut into the cucumber as I intended to try juicing a bit with my next bag of apples.
But all I could visualize is the salad that I have on my chicken donner kebab.

I don't feel brave enough yet to experiment with cucumber yet but that is ok. My son loves cucumber so he can have it in his packed lunches for school.

So now. I'm on day two of the fast and to be honest it is a lot easier than I imagined. Haven't juiced anything yet so far today but I will need to buy more fruit later!
Dinner time will see me juicing more apple and pear I think.
